Developers face a variety of risks in game development – from game design to production speed to launch scale. With SpatialOS, we aim to offer the next generation game development technology that helps reduce those risks and enables innovation that is vital to the future of games.

We believe China is leading the world in gaming, and that the next generation of game worlds will be developed by the prosperous Chinese Game Development Community. We are looking for talented individuals to join our Shanghai Office, our core hub and headquarters for APAC Operations. 

Your Mission

is to become knowledgeable in the full SpatialOS stack from the underlying cloud agnostic infrastructure, all the way through to the Game Engine integrations we ship and have a broad knowledge of major game engines and programming languages used in the industry. 

You need to be able to confidently discuss the trade-offs between Blueprints vs C++ with a veteran Unreal developer or brainstorm with a Unity developer at a hackathon. Building a C++ based distributed pathfinding library in a week with a AAA studio or optimising the UI rendering pipeline for a mobile game should sound like a fun challenge. 

This role comes with significant opportunities to travel, both within Mainland China and across South Korea, Japan, and the rest of Asia-Pacific.

Example Projects

  • Two weeks to build a Unity mobile game to demo the mobile SDK to a client
  • Three weeks to create an Unreal shooter project to then spend one week hosting experienced Unreal developers and helping them implement an example feature
  • Building features demos as sales collateral that showcases the capability of various SpatialOS features
  • Driving technical sales calls with customers and being the technical backup of early stage BD meetings
  • Presenting SpatialOS at conferences to current and potential customers


  • Expert skill in at least one of Unity, Unreal or a large proprietary C++ based engine
  • Good knowledge of a game’s production lifecycle, development pipeline and related tools
  • Comfortable in a business development environment
  • Full professional proficiency or greater in both Mandarin and English

The following would be advantageous

  • Experience in multiple game engines on multiple platforms
  • Shipped multiple titles
  • Variety of client facing experience
  • Strong organisational skills
