Improbable Defence, building on the backbone of SpatialOS, has combined world class scientific modelling, market leading AI, mission specific user interfaces and a uniquely flexible and secure deployment model to create a powerful simulation platform tailored to the needs of the war fighter.
Our mission? To enable the most realistic and effective military simulations ever experienced, making defence users more effective on operations and decreasing the cost of military preparedness.
You will be responsible for initially managing two teams, with the intention that you will grow an engineering manager for one of the teams. Currently the applied science and modelling group comprises 5 applied scientists, and 4 SWE’s. This group is planned to grow from 9 to 22 within the year, anchored around your leadership of the group.
We envisage that you will leverage your experience leading data-scientists & researchers to develop the careers of our applied scientists and broader managerial skills to develop an engineering manager responsible for the engineers within the group.
The responsibility of these teams is to provide the scientific models & tools that sit at the heart of our core product offering. We are interested in understanding the consequences of aggressive action on a society, whether it is a power station being destroyed, a road network becoming blocked, or fake news propagating through a social network - we seek to understand these consequences so that more resilient societies can be engineered and our defence and national security is at the cutting edge of capability.
While we think the above experience could be important, we’re keen to hear from people that believe they have valuable experience to bring to the role. If you identify with the team and mission, but not all of our requirements, then please still apply!!
The best ideas are often the least expected and require new ways of thinking; that’s why our teams at Improbable are made up of an incredible range of talented people. Improbable is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
