Art Director

London
Gaming and Production

Improbable believes in a future where new, virtual worlds will augment human experience and become as meaningful, lasting and rich as the physical world. We call this the Multiversal Self.

Our platform, SpatialOS, lets developers transcend the limits of regular computation, allowing swarms of servers running in the cloud to cooperate in order to simulate worlds far larger and more complex than any single server could.

At Improbable, you are surrounded by people who want to improve everything and everyone around them, and who compel you to improve yourself. We’re motivated by the fulfilment of solving hard problems to achieve something profound and transformative.

Your Mission

You will be a foundational leadership hire in our newly formed UK Game Studio, helping us build Games on our SpatialOS platform. Leading our Art team, you work on a range of styles, from Photo-realistic to Stylized. Driving excellence within the team and working with the other functional heads to build the next generation of interactive experiences.

Our technology allows us to experiment with genuinely new mechanics, both big and small. We're learning new skills within a massively networked environment that we believe is the future of gaming.

You will be working as part of a small but growing team of veteran developers in a team that is being formed in an environment where generalists flourish and collaboration is key. You can work in a close-knit, talented technical and creative team to produce inspiring results with rapid development cycles.

Competencies

  • Leveraging your deep leadership experience you will help set the vision and direction for a team of artists from a range of backgrounds and be comfortable being hands-on as well as high level.
  • You will be comfortable working in a nimble team, mentoring junior team members and raising the standard of game development within Improbable’s London Studio.
  • You will bring to bear your development experience and help define the culture of rapid iteration and release cycles as we lay the foundations of our 1st Party Studio with the backing of some of the most influential investors and partners in the world.
  • You will help guide the team through pivots and changes leveraging your experience delivering games from start to finish. Solidifying core game loops and dynamics and embark on scaling the Studio to deliver successful live games.
