Improbable is working towards opening multiple offices within China and hiring the initial ‘founders’ of Improbable China; our core hub for APAC Operations. We are looking for individuals with a founder mentality to support Games Production, Business Development and Product Development. Initially the focus will be on SpatialOS, but we are also opening our China Office to explore new product opportunities in gaming.

Our first China office will be based in Guangzhou and we expect to expand to multiple locations over time, as we explore additional opportunities beyond the SpatialOS platform. There will be significant opportunities to work with our outstanding Product, Engineering and Commercial teams based in London, San Francisco and other APAC countries.

Your Mission

Engineering is at the heart of Improbable. We solve some of the hardest problems around in areas such as distributed systems, high-performance cloud computing, messaging and much more.SpatialOS brings a whole new set of concepts to traditional game development. This team’s mission is to bring these concepts to an existing game engine and express them in a way that feels native to developers working with those engines. We integrate with artist and designer workflows, native code and scripting languages to make the experience native, seamless and powerful.Some of the AAA game studios and top quality game titles that we have announced using co-development with our SpatialOS tech are: Mavericks by Automaton, Worlds Adrift by Bossa Studios, and Scavengers by Midwinter Entertainment. We want you to join us to enable the next wave of amazing AAA titles on mobile.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate new games engines into the SpatialOS ecosystem
  • Create native and high performant SDKs for those integrated engines
  • Create re-usable workers to use as building blocks of SpatialOS games

  • Competencies

  • Significant experience with C++ in a professional software engineering environment
  • Experience with C++ based engines: Unreal Engine and/or any C++ based game engines in China
  • An appreciation for clean code and API design
  • User-focussed and/or product-focussed mentality
  • Full professional proficiency in reading and writing, conversational English

  • Experience of the following would be advantageous

  • You have worked in a team which develop in house engines
  • You have been a part of game development from conceptualisation through to launch
  • You have shipped a PC or console game title
  • Experience or knowledge of additional game engines
  • Experience writing proprietary engines
