Character Artist

  • Edmonton, AB
  • Gaming and Production

At Improbable, we’re bringing together technology and games to create new opportunities and experiences. In order to achieve this, we need unique perspectives from diverse people, empowered to revolutionise how online games are made, delivered and paid for.

We believe one of the biggest, most impactful changes to the way we live our lives is going to come from the medium of games. Realising new communities, societies and vocations through virtual worlds is what drives our people and gives them purpose.

Your Mission

as a Character Artist with Improbable's Edmonton studio is to create best-in-class characters and creatures in conjunction with the technical animation team and project art director.

Areas for Impact

Your work collaborating across all disciplines will drive the aesthetic vision for the project in a manner that is both beautiful - and technically correct - and will demonstrate the potential of SpatialOS.

  • You will use your excellent knowledge of anatomy and passion for gaming to create characters and creatures that are best-in-class.
  • You will use your experience to mentor, coach, and develop more junior artists on the team.
  • You will use your ability to communicate to collaborate smoothly across other disciplines during production.

We'd like to hear from you if you identify with the following

  • Extensive portfolio demonstrating diverse completed works (preferably ArtStation).
  • Extensive experience with Maya, ZBrush, Adobe Photoshop, Substance, and Marvelous Designer.
  • Experience working in Unreal Engine (or other commercial game engine).
  • Mastery of both hard surface and organic 3D modeling.
  • Experience with PBR compliant workflows.
  • Experience working on shipped game titles (preferred).
While we think the above experience could be important, we’re keen to hear from people that believe they have valuable experience to bring to the role. If you identify with the team and mission, but not all of our requirements, then please still apply!!
